What defines the modern-day hipster?

Why is “hipster” a dirty word?

How many hipsters does it take to screw in a light bulb?

-It’s a really obscure number, and you probably haven’t heard of it…

-That joke is SO 2009.

Join us as we attempt to address these questions and more in an open forum discussion on the cultural impact of the hipster.

Panelists include: Tao Lin (Shoplifting from American Apparel), Gavin McInnes (co-founder of Vice Magazine), Mark Hunter (The Cobra Snake), Alexi Wasser (imboycrazy.com), Andrea Bartz & Brenna Ehrlich (Stuff Hipsters Hate), Mary Corey (UCLA History Dept), Christopher Glazek (The New Yorker), and moderator, Christian Lorentzen (The New York Observer).

Note: This event is for UCLA students with valid BruinCard only- BUT I SAY TRY TO CRASH IT IF YOU’RE NOT A PUSSY!!!!

    “hipster” is an outdated term… Jack Kerouac was using it in his novel The Subterraneans in 1958… I think at this point its more a marketing tool… still its nice to be on a panel and to be able to express yourself and to destroy people with shit for brains… I loved creative writing workshop just for that reason… have fun… but remember Diogenes was right… godspeed… Pascal
